अखण्ड ज्योतिष परिषद्

Akhanda Jyotish Parishad

The unbroken council of the science of light.
A certification society for those who would master Jyotisha.

Critique is not a verdict. It is a vital spark.
The friction it creates is the heat that forges excellence.
The dance is not won. It is danced.
The path The mission

A rigorous, lineage-honoring path to mastery

To produce practitioners of Jyotisha who are authentic, abundantly informed, and answerable to scholarly tradition. A graded path of structured study, demonstrated mastery, and ego-clearing critique. The certification has weight because the rubric has teeth. The dance is the practice.

Most who would learn Vedic astrology today are caught between two failures: courses that flatter the student into certificates without substance, and lineage traditions that close their doors to those willing to do the work. Akhanda Jyotish Parishad opens both doors at once — by building a verifiable rubric of mastery and applying it without flattery to anyone willing to dance.

Four tiers, one direction

Each tier is earned, not awarded. Promotion requires three things in this order — coursework completion, practical demonstration, oral examination — failure on any sends the candidate back to study. There is no timeline pressure; the dance has its own pace.

विद्यार्थी
Vidyarthi
Student
Has begun. Knows the vocabulary. Reads a chart at the surface — signs, houses, planets, nakshatras, basic dasha.

III
आचार्य

Eight domains of Parashara mastery

The V1 curriculum follows the Parashara school as foundation. Jaimini opens at the Acharya tier as a specialization track, joined by predictive astrology (Tajaka, Prashna, Mundane). A Jyotirvid is expected to hold both branches.

1

Foundations

The 12 rashis, 12 bhavas, 9 grahas, 27 nakshatras with their padas. Natures, lordships, exaltations, debilitations, friendships, enmities.

2

Chart Construction

Julian day, sidereal positions, ayanamsha selection (Lahiri, True Chitra, Yukteshwar, Raman). Lagna, panchanga — tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga, karana.

3

Aspects, Conjunctions, Yogas

Graha drishti. Major yogas — Raja, Dhana, Pancha Mahapurusha, Gajakesari, Chandra-Mangala, Adhi, Sunapha-Anapha-Durudhara. Negative yogas: Kemadruma, Daridra.

4

Divisional Charts (Shodasha Vargas)

The 16 standard divisionals. Sadhaka-tier minimum: D-1, D-9, D-10, D-60. Acharya-tier: comfortable across all 16.

5

Dasha Systems

Vimshottari as the spine. Acharya-tier: Yogini, Chara (Jaimini), Kalachakra in introduction. Reading dasha lords through their houses, signs, aspects.

6

Transits & Timing

Saturn return, Jupiter return, Rahu-Ketu cycle, Mars 2-year. Sade Sati, Kantaka Shani, Ashtama Shani. Eclipses and their windows.

7

Ashtakavarga & Strength

Bhinnashtakavarga (BAV) per planet, Sarvashtakavarga (SAV). Shadbala. Ishta-Kashta-phala. Quantitative evaluation of planetary strength.

8

Predictive Practice

Eight chart interpretations across the Sadhaka tier, scored against the rubric. Mistakes are part of the dance — revise, resubmit, the score-delta is itself part of the assessment.

The same scale, every domain, every submission

Every assessed artifact — chart interpretation, written case study, oral viva — is scored on a 1.0 to 5.0 scale. Final tier promotion requires sustained averages, not single-shot scores. The rubric is published, applied without flattery, and the same for every candidate.

TierScoreLetterMeaning
Super Excellent5.0A+Lineage-grade. Original insight. Could be published.
Good4.0ASound, accurate, defensible. Demonstrates real expertise.
Average3.0BCompetent recital of established interpretation. No errors of fact, no original insight.
Poor2.0DNotable gaps. Misapplied technique or shallow sourcing.
Failure1.0FDisqualifying. Pseudo-scholarly, factual errors, or fabricated tradition.

The dance, four steps at a time

1
Submit
Upload chart interpretation, case study, or analysis
2
Receive critique
Rigorous rubric-scored review across all domain dimensions
3
Refine
Roll with the punch. Reinvent the work. The score-delta is part of your assessment.
4
Resubmit
Until averages are met. Then the next viva. Then the next tier.

Lineage and the modern interpreters

Primary sources establish the canon. Modern interpreters translate the canon into the working idiom of contemporary practice. The candidate is expected to engage both — the texts that founded the science, and the teachers who keep it alive in this generation.

Primary Sources (Lineage)

  • Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS)Maharshi Parashara — the foundational text
  • Brihat JatakaVarahamihira — classical natal astrology
  • SaravaliKalyana Varma — yogas and combinations
  • PhaladeepikaMantreswara — predictive techniques
  • Jaimini SutrasMaharshi Jaimini — Acharya+ tier
  • Yavana JatakaSphujidhvaja — referenced canonically

Modern Interpreters

  • B.V. RamanPredictive astrology integration
  • K.N. RaoDasha refinement, chart-reading method
  • Sanjay RathJaimini, Chara Dasha, Vimshottari refinement
  • Brighu MuniBhrigu Nadi tradition (advanced)
  • Kapiel RaajNakshatra-centric interpretation

This is V1 — the framework is live, the doors open soon

The certification framework, scoring rubrics, curriculum domains, and assessment instruments are drafted. Candidate registration, submission portal, and live grading workflow are in active development.

The foundational engine — chart computation, divisional analysis, Vimshottari dasha, source-text library — is already operational. samiksha.cloud, the rubric-based critical-analysis sister project, runs on the same architecture and is live today.
